Pa Lek Boat Noodles

Ayutthaya, crisscrossed by rivers and canals, is the heartland of boat noodles, and Pa Lek is one of the town's best-known places to eat them. The family has been ladling bowls for more than five decades and is now on its third generation, on Bang Ian Road near the old city's temple ruins.

The stall holds a Michelin Bib Gourmand in the 2026 guide. Bowls are small and cheap in the traditional way, with pork or beef in a deep, aromatic broth, so most people order several. It is a simple, busy street-side set-up that fills with locals and temple visitors at lunchtime.

What to order

  • Kuay teow ruea moo: pork boat noodles in a dark, spiced broth
  • Kuay teow ruea neua: beef boat noodles
  • Choice of noodle: try thin rice noodles (sen lek) or glass noodles for contrast

Good to know

  • Closed on Wednesdays.
  • Arrive before noon to avoid the lunchtime crowd.
  • Bring cash, and order a few bowls each as portions are small.
  • It is easy to combine with a visit to the historical park nearby.
