Krua Apsorn (Dinso Road)

Krua Apsorn is a family-run Thai kitchen with two Bangkok branches, and the Dinso Road shophouse is the one most visitors find, a short walk from Democracy Monument and the Giant Swing. The room is simple and air-conditioned, and the menu is long, built on central Thai home cooking rather than restaurant showmanship.

The family has a long-standing reputation for cooking for members of the Thai royal household, and its recipes are guarded closely. Crab is the thing to come for: picked crab meat goes into an omelette, a yellow chilli stir-fry and a sour yellow curry. The sister branch on Sam Sen Road in Dusit holds a Michelin Bib Gourmand in the 2026 guide.

What to order

  • Crab omelette: a thick, soft omelette packed with lumps of crab meat
  • Crab meat stir-fried with yellow chilli: sweet crab with mild, fragrant heat
  • Yellow curry with lotus shoots and prawns: sour, gently spicy and very balanced
  • Sataw beans stir-fried with prawns and minced pork: pungent, savoury and rich
  • Coconut ice cream: a cooling, fragrant finish

Good to know

  • Lunch is the busiest time; arrive before noon or come mid-afternoon to avoid a queue.
  • Phone reservations are easiest in Thai, so walk-ins are the simplest option for visitors.
  • There is no dedicated car park; a taxi or a walk from the Democracy Monument area is easier.
