Chiang Mai (TH)
Tong Tem Toh is a lively northern Thai restaurant on Nimmanhaemin Soi 13, with dark wooden tables, outdoor seating and misting fans. Drinks come in traditional metal cups.
It is one of the most popular places in Nimman for Lanna food that is approachable without being watered down. The charcoal grill is the main event in the evening, while chilli dips, curries and sausages are available all day.
Expect a queue at dinner, especially in the cool season. The pace is fast and prices are reasonable for the area.
What to order
- Nam prik num: roasted green chilli dip with pork crackling and vegetables
- Gaeng hang lay: rich pork curry with ginger, garlic and peanuts
- Sai ua: grilled northern sausage packed with herbs

- Tam kanun: spicy young jackfruit salad
Good to know
- Come for a late breakfast or mid-afternoon to avoid the dinner queue.
